Upcoming Program – March 8, 2016: An Intimate Encounter With Zika Virus
*Dr. Mary Ann LoFrumento
President – Hands Up for Haiti
Dr. LoFrumento is a pediatrician who after two decades in private practice became an author and specialist in newborn care. She is also one of the co-founders of Hands Up for Haiti and dedicates part of her efforts to introducing medical students and residents to the challenges of working in Haiti. Dr. LoFrumento will discuss her work and experiences in Haiti as well as discussing vaccine development in pharma as it relates to emerging diseases. She will also discuss the Zika virus from the perspective of being both physician and patient.
*Dr. Lisa Weiss
Director of Epidemiology – Worldwide R&D – Pfizer, Inc.
Dr. Lisa Weiss is the Director of Epidemiology within Worldwide Research & Development at Pfizer. As a global pharmacoepidemiologist, she serves as a core member of development strategy teams, implementing epidemiology studies in support of development initiatives. Dr. Weiss will speak on epidemiologic considerations in the vaccine development process, and provide an update on the international response to combat the Zika virus.
